Purists look away now, but my 912E is featured in this months mag, talking about the engine swap I decided to do.
Controversial I know, but I love my car so much with her new found power and colour. She has taken a long time to build and get 100% in my eyes and is now stunning.
But then again I am biased!

I have to say I would have loved to have done that in my 912E but but sold it.. Great colour.. Was it easy to swap over? as it's a 76S shell at the end of the day _________________ 1954 356 1300 Super

It was remarkably simple.
The original engine was in a hell of a state with cracked and welded heads, heli coiled spark plugs, smoking very badly and leaking oil just stood.
So it dropped out, and you only have to grind off one of the shorter engine mounts, and the 6 cylinder motor bolts in on the original gearbox. Upgreaded the clutch though and added the oil pipes and front mounted cooler, the brakets for which were all there ready to go.
A bit of gauge wiring and that was it.
Simples. |

Great car, turned out really nice and lovin that colour but…
As a big fan of the type 4 engine I just couldn’t do that.
Still, you've got the car you wanted and that is all that matters.
BTW Have you any plans for that old motor? |
